Two designs, standard exterior specifications and a desire to offer old games but also recent ones … here are the first pieces of information we managed to gather about the Atari box.
Many things remain to be known about Atari’s Atari box, its first console for years, but the venerable manufacturer and developer at least decided to show the design of his machine. It is via a newsletter to its subscribers that the firm has unveiled the pictures below, as well as some initial information about its objective.
The first news about the Atari box
Naturally offered in modern version red/black and in old school version way wood of the Atari 2600, the Atari box keeps its dark entrails for the moment. We just know that it has an HDMI port, 4 USB ports, an Ethernet port, jack and an SD card slot.
The presence of the Ethernet port is accompanied by important information in the newsletter: the Atari box will offer classic Atari games like the NES and SNES Classic Mini of Nintendo, but also “current video game content.” It remains to know what this means exactly, but the objective of Atari is certainly to attract as much the fans of the brand as the others.
What about performance?
It is remained to know the performance of the machine, its mode of operation (console open in Android TV or closed?) Its price, the games that will be offered or its date of availability. Atari’s strategy is to disclose information little by little to “do things right” and warns that there will be many steps in the coming months. We must, therefore, be patient.
